Town of Irricana Announces Results of 2024 Organizational Meeting
The Town of Irricana is pleased to announce the results of the 2024 Organizational Meeting, held on October 21. Council has made key appointments to support governance, planning, and community representation throughout the year ahead.
Jim Bryson has been re-elected to serve as Mayor, while Lisa McAree will take on the role of Deputy Mayor. Council has re-appointed Councillor Sim as Chairperson of the Committee of the Whole, overseeing focused discussions on Town priorities.
Additionally, Councillors Fleming and Sim have been re-appointed alongside Mayor Bryson to the Municipal Planning Commission, with Councillor Fleming also serving on the Local and Composite Assessment Review Boards. Councillor Fleming will continue to represent the Town on the Aqua 7 Water Commission (Mayor Bryson as Alternate), and Deputy Mayor McAree and Councillor Fleming will represent the Town on the Irricana & Rural Library Board.
Further appointments include Councillor Sim to Community Futures Wild Rose (Deputy Mayor McAree as Alternate) to support regional economic development and Mayor Bryson to the Rocky View Foundation to guide the direction of seniors housing within the Foundation’s territory.
Section 192 of the MGA requires all Municipalities to hold an annual organizational meeting, by the end of October, to select a mayor or reeve (if necessary), the Deputy, and appoint council members to committees and other bodies on behalf of the Municipality.
